ack of manual dexterity kept me from learning guitar but eventually I picked up a harmonicaan all mouth, no fingers instrumentand took to it right away. I've been busking on the street and sitting in with bands for many years now, and I am as proficient on the ten hole diatonic harmonica as any cross harp player. I swing hard and fast, and play involved single note melodies much like a saxophonist. |
ull time harmonica players are not in huge demand, however, so while solo street performing I began to sing. Alternating between harmonica and a capella singing isn't the easiest method of vocal trainingthe breathing patterns are almost exactly oppositebut my singing ain't too bad and I can raise a little hell. If you're into playing rhythm and blues, swingin' jazz, honky tonk and bluegrass, rockabilly and 50s rock & roll, drop me an email. |
didn't start hanging out in dance clubs until I was in my thirties, but then I really got into it. After years on the dance floor I became really good at shaking my groove thang, and to me it's a form of improvisation as much fun as playing an instrument. I even had a gig once go go dancing in a cage at the Trocadero club in San Francisco. Hey man, doing the bump and grind, blowing a honking solo, it's all rock and roll to me. |
